This outdoorsy cake smash is a fun new setup to do. I have used this backdrop once before, but today I created these adorable woodland creatures to add some magic. When we first met for the consultation, Mom and Dad weren’t sure what theme they wanted to go with. We discussed a bunch of options, and ultimately they decided on this adorable outdoorsy cake smash.

Brody is a complete cutie. He took a few minutes to warm up to the camera, but ultimately he let a few smiles loose. We got through a few parent photos, and some of just him by himself. I loved these images of him just relaxing and sitting back in my little white chair. He looks like he’s just brimming with swagger as he hangs back and relaxes.

He dove right into his cake without hesitation. You may or may not know I have a running rivalry with a photographer friend of mine. She’s never had a one year old that goes face first into their cake. And I have a pretty solid streak for it. So after my sessions I love sending her a photo of my cake smashers eating their cake without hands. It always makes me chuckle when she threatens to unfriend me!

Ultimately I just love creating a cake smash set that parents love. I can’t promise your one year old will love it, they come with their own attitude. But I sure do try my best. If you are planning your one year old’s birthday session, reach out to me and let’s see what we can do. I suggest getting started with planning about a month or two before their birthday (longer is always better if possible). I can’t wait to show you around the studio, and start envisioning the cake smash you want!
