When I first met Leyon’s mom at her session consultation, she knew without a doubt what she wanted, this sweet as hunny cake smash theme is one she holds near and dear to her heart.
Designing it was so much fun. I originally sent Mom two backdrop choices that I thought would cover her vision well. Of course, as it would be, she had elements of each that she really loved. As always, I’m determined to design an incredible setup for my clients. So I ordered the base, this hunny pots drop is beautiful. I loved it’s deep rich colors. The other drop she really loved had this door in the tree to Pooh’s house. I reached out to a friend and local artist and asked her to paint me a door that would fit my backdrop. Not only did Anne nail the vision, she knocked my socks off. I am so floored at how perfect it is. And mom was so impressed as well! As I do with all of my cake smash’s clients, I drafted up a layout for the setup, and went to work gathering pieces. I ordered an adorable little outfit from Little Miss Atasha. My daughter and I painted terra cotta pots to blend in with the ones from the backdrop and add some dimension. I printed and cut out the characters to solidify her theme, and it all came together so perfectly in the end.
How the sweet as hunny cake smash went
I have to admit, I wasn’t completely certain that he’d be excited about the cake. He was a pretty serious guy, and he was more the cautious observer than the active participant. But Leyon was so excited, he couldn’t help himself. Face first he went. I’m not sure he actually ate a lot of it, but he loved to suck the frosting off the cake. Whatever it takes right? We did however get ALL the smiles during his splash session. This little man loves the water!
