There was once a time in my career I only wanted so photograph the newborn sessions. And I would avoid the maternity sessions in studio as much as I could. One day I realized I was really left feeling unfulfilled after a newborn session. I was missing the connection with my clients. I only had the newborn session to get to know her. When a mom relayed feelings of not feeling beautiful during the pregnancy, I wanted to change that. Once I realized that what I was missing a key step in my client’s journey. I could help them realize that they truly are beautiful, despite the sore muscles, swollen feet and crazy cravings.

I set out to really find my grove in maternity photography. Getting my own style, poses that felt natural to me. I started slowly building a client closet that felt like gowns I would wear, and therefore clients might feel comfortable wearing.

Let me be your biggest hype girl at your maternity session. I want to make it so easy all you have to do is show up. We will laugh, I promise at least once to make a fool out of myself. But the most important part, is I want you to enjoy yourself. You’ll leave saying, “Katie, I’m so glad I did this, it was a great experience. I can’t wait to see my images!”

About a week after your session we will do just that. I’ll take that time in between our meetings to go through and narrow your gallery down to just a gorgeous selection of your best poses and expressions. You’ll view and choose your favorite images for your final gallery, and how you’d like to display them proudly in your home. Because I do believe, you will want to display these.

Maternity sessions in studio are rapidly becoming one of my favorite sessions. I love the following newborn sessions because its a quiet, calm time. But the maternity is such a celebration. A celebration of creation, of success, of love, of new life, and the change, as a woman becomes a mom.
