I can’t believe it’s been a year since I first met Waylon at his newborn session, and now he’s back for a green and blue balloon garland cake smash.

I first photographed his parents at their maternity session at Stoney Creek. We had so much fun together, I knew I’d love their newborn session.

Waylon was just as sweet a year later as he was at his newborn session. Mom asked I create his balloon garland with similar color palette to his newborn session. I had to go back and scroll his gallery, but in the end I loved this garland. It’s a little different than what I’d normally do. Typically I do a darker and lighter tone of the same color, and then a neutral. But this dark blue, light green and white were perfect.

He was all smiles and business. It was one of the fastest cake smashes because he was just a star!

We knocked family photos out first, he smiled all the way through. We moved into the cake smash, and he did smile, but he was very busy eating his cake. With both hands. As fast as he could. And boy, when he was done eating, he was done.

No matter what we tried we couldn’t get him back to his cake. That was the end of his patience with our shenanigans. But I’m glad he had as much as fun as he did. It was full of smiles and laughter.

And the best part!?! We did his cake smash ON his actual birthday!
