Oh sweet Delilah. Her mom picked out a beautiful burgundy and pink cake smash setup and Delilah broke my heart again. One day I’m going to win this girl over. It’s going to happen, I am determined!

We did some family photos first, and she did deliver some cute smiles for that. I really thought she would dive into the cake, but one year old’s do what they want.

Everyone asks me if I think newborns or one year old’s are harder. Honestly there’s no right answer. They’re each different. And both do what they want, on their schedule. The only difference being that a newborn I can usually convince to do what I want. Once a one year old decides they are against something, thats the end of the story. And that is today’s story.

Delilah dove into her cake at first, had a few bites, and then pushed it away. Clearly, she wasn’t planning to make it easy on us. Sometimes no matter how much you practice, it is what it is.

In the end her gallery is beautiful, and it will be a moment in time they’ll never forget. But I do love this set of images, even if we all shed a tear today! Enjoy Delilah’s burgundy and pink cake smash setup.

Cake as always provided by Amber’s Cakes in Sterling Heights. If you need a dessert for an upcoming event she’s the girl you need to talk to!

After you’ve admired these images, you can go check out her newborn photos! I love to look back and see how much they’ve grown.
