These two adorable boys were at the studio recently for more than just birthday milestones. Their mom came in for a studio maternity session, and they are coming back in a few weeks with their new little brother for a newborn session. It’s always a delight to see them. I’ve been photographing Jamison since his newborn session!
Birthday milestone sessions are quick and easy (well, hopefully at least). I like to try and make it short and simple, no bright flashing light, just a simple setup in my lifestyle room in front of a window for light. My goal is that they hopefully feel a little more relaxed and at home. They don’t have to end at the first birthday. I have many families that come back for 18 month, 2 year, 3 year and so on. They love that progression of photos year to year. And I of course love seeing them grow up, and hearing about what they are into these days. Jameson loves dinosaurs (in case you couldn’t tell he had them on his shirt).
I was surprised how much more shy Jameson was than Evan. Evan couldn’t smile enough for me. But Jameson had things to do. He didn’t have time for my shenanigans, he wanted to run around and explore. By the end of the session I was sweating up a storm chasing them around. But the resulting smiles were worth the workout!
I think Dad got his workout in too, since Mom was all dressed up for maternity session, she got the job of standing behind me to help with smiles, and Dad had to wrangle the kids. And, as boys do, they ran in two different directions.
Check back in soon to meet their new little brother, he’s going to be adorable, and well protected with these two big brothers!
Enjoy these adorable smiles at their birthday milestones session.
