From one Port Huron Newborn Photographer to another

Today I am showcasing a recent session from early June. Back in the spring, Megan reached out to me to be her Port Huron Newborn Photographer. She is expecting a baby in June. I know Megan from our amazing local photography Facebook group that I am an active member in. She is co-owner in a Detroit wedding photography business. I had worked alongside her and second shot a wedding over in Kalamazoo last summer. The two of us bonded on a very hot and muggy Saturday last August. Megan didn’t ever make a general Facebook announcement that she and her family were expecting a new addition. So imagine how fun it was to be privy to the news that not many people were aware of.

Keeping it a surprise

Their family decided to not find out the gender. They decorated the nursery using gender neutral colors that could go either way. The simple white shiplap walls are accented with macrame. Mustard (Megan’s favorite color) is prominent, so I knew that I had to incorporate that into her newborn session. She was scheduled to have a c-section on June 10th. For you moms out there, you know how babies do what they want. She ended up having to go in early on the 6th, due to some complications. We were all overjoyed to learn that it was indeed a girl, named Eliza Mae. I got busy planning how to add in some feminine aspects to the gender neutral color scheme she wanted.

I love when people step outside the box and want something other than pink. This session was a fun change that I love and couldn’t wait to share on the blog. No matter what your vision is, I can stylize the perfect session around it. You and your family can cherish those memories for a lifetime.

Eliza was the perfect baby, and only woke up a couple times. She settled back down easily and quickly though. This beauty had great natural hand placement, and was ready and prepared for her moment to shine.  All qualities I love in a newborn!

I hope you enjoy this preview into Eliza’s day, when I was her Port Huron newborn photographer. My fall schedule is quickly booking; make sure you reach out to schedule your session as soon as possible. I promise I can keep a secret, and love to celebrate your newest family member news, too!
