Today I am featuring a fun Oakland County family reunion photo session that I had the privilege of photographing in June of 2019. Oak Park is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, and it’s where the Rosenthal family lives and plays. Da’vid and Raquel wanted to hire me to do an extended family photography session for them, because their son, Maier, was celebrating his Bar Mitzvah and they had lots of extended family in town from far away locations such as California, Australia and Israel.
We met one afternoon and went scouting around the area, and settled on a pretty park in Oakland County called David H. Shepherd Park. It was the perfect location to capture this special time in this family’s life. Da’vid and Raquel have five kids, and having them all together and photo-ready is not a minor task, yet they both handled it with ease and grace, and we had a great time exploring the park and taking their Oakland County family reunion photo session photos.
I always love meeting new families and quietly observing their lives and monumental occasions happen, through my camera lens. Any time that a family can get together and spend time with one another is a great time to hire me to do a family reunion photo session, because it really takes the pressure off of feeling the need to document it yourself with photos, and leave it to the professionals. No more selfies, or Snapchat filters to showcase your family bond, I say!
I also really enjoy scouting out new locations to photograph at. Eastern Michigan is jam packed with stunning parks, nature trails, and hidden gems that are perfect to use as a backdrop to your photo session.
