Newborn, Cake Smash, Maternity Photography

Today, my job as a Grosse Pointe Farms photographer brings sweet little Lola to the studio. Not only was she an absolute angel. But her mom said I could use whatever colors I wanted! This is such an exciting thing to hear as a photographer. I love the traditional pink or purples for girls, but it’s fun to use yellows, blues and greens as well.

Lola brings me in her big sister, who is 16 years old. It was so fun to have a sibling around that can easily hold the baby. We captured some incredibly sweet images for Mom that she will treasure of her girls.

Most of my setups were looks I have had at the studio for a while. But the first up was this sage green look that was nearly all brand new. I got the bed in a local photographers destash sale. The two layers I purchased from May + Mill, the dress, mattress, pillow and headband are from Manly and Pretty Little Things. All of it came together to create this gorgeous masterpiece that mom just loved.

It’s not often I do more than one outfit in a session. Babies just don’t enjoy changing clothes that much. But I couldn’t resist with free reign on colors doing a fall look as well. She is a fall baby after all! I can’t remember where this outfit came from but I have always loved it so much. Anytime I get a fall baby that likes fall colors it comes out to play!

Another good note when you’re planning your own newborn session is a client closet provided by your photographer. Lola’s mom chose to worry about one less thing, and chose a dress from my client closet! All she did was style her daughter and husband and I had her outfit ready when she arrived!

The rest of her session was pretty standard. Bucket, some table poses, toes out and a potato wrap to end the day. Lola was a dream baby, and being as adorable as she is doesn’t hurt. Some babies just make my life easier as a Grosse Pointe Farms photographer!
