This garden cake smash was complete with fairy tale whimsy. Yasmina’s mom said she wanted me to go all out on this one, pinks, flowers, flowers and flowers, some fairy lights. She wanted it girly, over the top and perfect for her princess.
I used a backdrop from Intuition Backdrops for this one. I actually bought this back during a newborn workshop I took with Caralee Case. She used it in the workshop and I loved it so much I ordered before the day was over. I don’t have as many opportunities these days to use it, and this felt perfect. It’s such a pretty garden backdrop, I was confident it would serve as a great foundation for this garden cake smash.
I created a balloon garland across the top to hold up my wisteria flowers. The effect these add in is so magical, they really gave my setup so much dimension. I always try to layer in my accessories. It helps to build the sets up so they don’t fall flat looking like a backdrop I plopped down in front of. After adding in the balloons and the wisteria, I went with these adorable fairy lights in jars that I hung from the ceiling. This is the best way to incorporate dimension. I lined the floor with crates and flowers to finish the look up. I love this setup.
Creating these setups for parents is really a huge joy for me. I love the creative buzz it gives me to bring a bunch of simple elements together to create something beautiful.
