As Kim and Nate’s Ferndale Wedding Photographer, I got to partake in one of the most intimate weddings I photographed this year. I knew when I first met them that they were a very down to earth couple. They want a wedding that celebrats their simple, honest love for each other. They weren’t looking for a big show. I can appreciate that. It’s so much fun to document a couple that deeply and openly loves each other, and wants to share their love with close family and friends.
We pull into the Ferndale Assembly of God church in Ferndale, Michigan it immediately strikes me as “a warm and loving church”. I had checked out their website before the wedding day and that’s exactly how they describe themselves. Their members take great pride in the church. Every wall is brightly and boldly decorated with motivational devotions to remind you of where you are.
I find the girls in the basement, jamming out to their favorite music. Kim is sitting at a table her two sisters. I immediately pictured my own daughters, just so relaxed, doing each others makeup, telling stories, but mostly enjoying each others company. We watch as they laugh, share stories about growing up together, their parents, and did their hair and makeup. I couldn’t help but smile with them.
The anticipation built as the finishing touches were put on. We got ready for Kim’s first look with her Dad. I love a good emotional first look, and these two did not disappoint. Her dad was so excited to see her, he kept asking “Can I turn around yet?”
It was an amazing start to our day and left us soaring as we dashed off to the ceremony. Their wedding ceremony was full of tears, smiles and love. Close friends and family lifted them in prayer, and wished them years of joy together.
Enjoy the rest of these images from Kim and Nate’s wedding day. As well as my chance to be their Ferndale Wedding Photographer!
